Activities

What do you do?

We have weekly meet-ups where we can discuss interesting events happening in Europe and the world, plan an event on a certain topic or just have a fun get together. You can also always propose something yourself.

How many times do you meet?

Normally once a week, at the start of every semester we decide on a day and hour.

I am very busy and I fear I won’t have enough time to attend your meetings.

No worries, you don’t have to be there every week and we try and look for a moment in the week that fits for all.

Political Neutrality

What does your political neutrality mean?

It means that our organization does not favour any political position over another and that our organization itself is non-partisan. Its goal is to facilitate the debate between our members and other students with different views. This does not mean our members should be neutral, on the contrary: we encourage as many different views on the EU and other topics in order to enrich the debate. Only our president and vice-president are forbidden to join any political organizations for the duration of their tenure, since they are the ‘guardians’ of Minos’ neutrality. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment where there can be an open and good faith discussion on various European topics without taboos. Our only requirement is that you do not commit or advocate violent acts.

I hate the EU, can I still join?

Yes, of course! We are not a pro-EU organization, we organize debates around the EU and broader European topics. Your political position is not of importance. What is of importance is that you are willing to engage in conversation and debate your views. All perspectives can contribute to an enriching debate.

Joining

What are requirements for joining?

The only requirement for joining Minos Leuven is that you do not commit or advocate any violent acts.

I am not a European citizen, but I come from Asia, America, Oceania or Africa. Can I join?

Yes, of course!

I study mathematics, engineering, language, … Can I join too?

Yes! We regularly organize events that fall outside of the ‘usual suspects’ of Law, Politics or Economics. Furthermore, we can use your input to organize an event in your field of expertise!

I love you and I wish my student city had a similar organization / I want to do something similar!

Thank you! Please do contact us if you want to do something similar. We are very much looking to expand our organization across Europe to foster a truly European debate. We would love to provide you with support & to stay in touch. We are also working on an international charter.

Do you have merch?

Yes! We sell a t-shirt and a hoodie each year.
